Let’s talk about Wahhabism and Christian Dominionism!
9/11 broke the brain of a wide swath of people all over the world, but fractured psyches were concentrated in the US.
The curative treatment was to accompany the committed literalists in their exegesis and return to the era of the Crusades, executing Holy Wars with the help of landed gentry and feudal serfs.
The ideologies found fellowship and merged, bonding over shared goals, tactics, and worldview-building strategies.
They're both religious movements that take their beliefs super seriously.
Here are some things they have in common:
Fundamentalism: Both Wahhabism and Christian Dominionism are all about sticking to their religious beliefs. Their way is the right way. Seriously.
Literalism: These folks read their holy texts literally. Wahhabism follows the Quran and the Hadith word for word. Christian Dominionism takes the Bible super literally. Charismatic wandering prophets wrote them, so they must be true!
Societal Governance: It’s like nobody got over the Crusades. Both Wahhabism and Christian Dominionism want to make big changes in society based on their religious principles. Wahhabism wants to establish an Islamic state with Sharia law, while Christian Dominionism dreams of a society governed by biblical law.
Church & Mosque is the State: Secularism means human and civil affairs are separate from things like politics and religion. That’s just not their thing. These bros want religion to be the center of society, including politics and rules that influence normal society.
Evangelize by Sword & Gun: Both movements want to share their beliefs with others. They think it's their religious duty to tell people about what they believe and get more followers.
